Am I the only one?
Tonight on 60 Minutes they had this interview between Drew Barrymore and Anderson Cooper. Nothing earth shattering there, two children of privileged names sitting down to shoot the sh*t.
Thing is there were a lot of closeups on Drew’s face.
Now, I like looking at Drew Barrymore, she’s a pretty girl and I still have an old copy of Interview magazine around here somewhere with some spectacular photos of her in it. I mean even in her mid-thirties she still is killer but, the thing that always sticks with me whenever I see her and the one thing which never seems to get any kind of ink is something I always notice.
Look at the girl’s face... I mean really, really look at it close.
Everytime I see her, I wonder to myself if she didn’t have some kind of mild stroke somewhere along the way.
I’m not trying to be mean, I just wonder if something happened. Something that never made it into the press but had an effect. Drew commented at length during the interview about her wild past. As a young star, before she even entered her teens, her abuse of drugs is well documented. She was in rehab at a very early age. She put the kind of mileage on her young body that wouldn’t occur until many people’s late teens or mid twenties. Lots of drugs and lots of hard living, the kind of thing that catches up to a person.
So, is it totally unimaginable somewhere along the line she overdid it? Moreover, she overdid it to the point that it had a lasting physical effect on her?
One side of her face seems... lazy? I don’t know if that’s the right word for it. Sometimes, when people have had a stroke they lose the ability to control muscles or even if they don’t totally lose use, their control of those muscles is diminished from what it would normally be. And it’s not just her face... her speech has been affected to. You can hear it, a slightly perceptible lazy tongue (the syrupy kind of speech which reminds me of Sylvester the Cat).
Like I said, I’m not trying to be mean because I think she’s a beautiful girl. I just wonder to myself if we’ll ever learn whether or not that‘s the case.
